Wave Energy
As a result of the horizontally travelling wave energy, water molecules will undergo a circular motion, which decreases exponentially with depth.
How it works
The laminaria constitutes a vertical surface which must interact with the horizontally travelling wave energy. As the result of the horizontal movement in the water the Laminaria will be subjected to a tilting ans translating motion which is transferred through the mooring ropes to the generators.
Storm resistancy
When wave power exceeds the level necessary to produce nominal power, the ride height of the Laminaria lowered, to the point where the motion in the water is equivalent to the production nominal power. This ensures nominal power production even during the heaviest of storms without undergoing excessive forces.
Directional benefits
The Laminaria convert waves from all wave directions, heights and lengths at the same time.
